Tracey Carter

Before joining The Bronx Defenders, Tracey Carter was a Parent Advocate at the Child Welfare Organizing Project for 11 years, where she advocated for families who have been affected by the child welfare system. At the Child Welfare Organizing Project, located in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, Tracey did extended outreach to the community and local public schools to spread awareness of available services. As a Parent Advocate, she ensured that parents understood their rights and were empowered to use their voices to advocate for their families when interacting with the child welfare system. Tracey also worked with the Center for Human Development Family Services for two years as a Parent Advocate at the Initial Child Safety Conference, and was a Field Coordinator for the Summer Youth Camp with Children with Disabilities. She has had the honor of presenting at St. John University School of Law, Hunter School of Social Work, New York University School of Social Work, and New York University School of Law. She currently serves as a Board Member for Bridgebuilders.
