Lovina Talukder

Lovina (She, Her, Hers) is an MSW graduate from Columbia’s School of Social Work. She was born and raised in New York City. She chose social work due to the various social workers who were part of her childhood and failed her. She was previously a care manager working with adults over 50 who are either in prison/jail or have been recently released. She helped manage and monitor their reentry process to avoid rearrests and advocated on their behalf when it was necessary. She facilitated groups on Rikers Island in addition to her community work with this population. Her favorite quote comes from Assata Shakur and guides her work as a social worker.
