Imani Waweru


Imani Waweru (he/him/his) received his J.D. from Georgetown Law School. During law school, he participated in the Criminal Defense and Prisoner Advocacy Clinic representing indigent D.C. residents charged with misdemeanors, where he received the Greenfield Trial Practice Award. He also spent a semester interning at the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, where he worked with the D.C. Prisoners’ Rights Project. Imani also assisted with research for impact litigation and policy work in the Criminal Justice Initiative for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. In law school, he served as the Attorney General of the Black Law Students Association and was actively involved with the law school’s Racial Justice Work Group. Prior to law school, Imani received a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of North Texas.
