Frances Hartmann


Frances Hartmann received her J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. Prior to law school, Fran spent eight years working with immigrant communities. She was a legal assistant at a small law practice specializing in removal defense in Portland, Oregon, coordinated an immigrant services program at the Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement House in Queens, and was an Accredited Representative at the Safe Horizon Immigration Law Project in Brooklyn. In law school, Fran participated in the Immigrant Rights Clinic for two years, was a co-chair of the Immigrant Rights Project, and helped establish NYU’s Immigrant Defense Initiative. Fran interned at Brooklyn Defender Services and Office of the Appellate Defender. She is a current Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow.
