Emily Friedman


Emily Friedman (she/her/hers) is an attorney in our Civil Action Practice. During law school, she was a member of the Death Penalty Clinic, where she worked on behalf of clients on death row, and the Policy Advocacy Clinic, where she worked to end the imposition of court-ordered debt in juvenile justice systems across the nation. Emily also represented tenants facing eviction at the East Bay Community Law Center housing clinic and worked as a Racial Justice Intern at the Contra Costa Public Defender’s Office. During her law school summers, Emily clerked at the Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore, MD and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights in San Francisco. Prior to law school, she worked as a paralegal advocate at Brooklyn Legal Services in the workers’ rights and benefits unit. She holds a B.A. in American Studies and Spanish from Cornell University, and speaks Spanish.
