Anne Mathews


Annie (She/Her/Hers) comes to the Bronx Defenders from Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, where she represented non-citizens in removal proceedings and before USCIS. At NDS, she also provided immigration consults to criminal defense attorneys. Prior to NDS, she advocated for reproductive rights in a fellowship at the ACLU. She is a graduate of NYU School of Law (where she was a Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar), the Harvard Kennedy School, and Wesleyan University. While in law school she worked with the Orleans Public Defenders, Make the Road New York,  Legal Aid Society in the Criminal Defense Practice, and the National Women’s Law Center. Before law school, Annie lived in the Bay Area where she was a program manager for an organization serving low-income immigrant women. She also interned at BxD while in law school and is thrilled to return to the immigration practice.
